Summer Camp

Summer Camp

Kingfisher Camp has been held for two weeks each summer since the 1970’s. Camp provides a fun and safe environment where young people can find out about the Bible and what it says about the Christian faith, while meeting new friends and enjoying time together.

For many years, camp was held in a field at Cheddar, using marquees for eating, games and Bible meetings, with ridge tents pitched nearby for sleeping. Nowadays, it is held at a secondary school in Frome, Somerset, with modern indoor facilities.

The days are spent outdoors as much as possible, doing various sport and craft activities in teams and spending time learning from the Bible, while nights are spent on the school field under canvas (ridge tents, sleeping 8-10 each) with leaders on hand in tents next to campers.
A typical day looks like this.

Camp is run by an established leadership team who organise and run the activities, with pairs of Tent Leaders looking after one group of campers throughout the week. We take safeguarding very seriously, and all leaders are DBS checked before being allowed to attend.
